New Zealand : Understanding and sharing strengths of local maternal morbidity review.

The Maternal Morbidity Working Group (MMWG) was established in May 2016 under the umbrella of the Perinatal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee. The groups role is to build upon the previous work of the Severe Acute Maternal Morbidity (SAMM) audit and to develop quality improvement initiatives in the maternity sector.

For our first quality improvement initiative, we are keen to understand the strengths of current local review processes for severe maternal morbidity events.

We have developed a survey for clinicians (both hospital and self-employed) to provide us with the strengths of their local review process. We would like to share these strengths and potential improvements with the maternity sector.
