New York honour for Noon By Noor.

BAHRAINI fashion house Noon By Noor has showcased its Spring 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week.

Designers Shaikha Noor bint Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya bint Mohammed Al Khalifa presented their collection for the sixth time at the prestigious industry event before an audience of editors, journalists, buyers and celebrities.

Sitting in the front row were 31-year-old fashionista Alexa Chung, wearing Fall 2015, and DJ Leigh Lezark, wearing Resort 2016.

Blogger Mary Seng of Happily Grey was also present.

"For Spring 2016 we wanted to capture an effortless, sporty feel through relaxed silhouettes, oversized proportions and modern fabrics," said Shaikha Noor.

"We started with iconic styles such as the varsity jacket and pinafore and experimented with ways to update them to incorporate glamour into a flirtatious and youthful aesthetic."

"It's a playful collection with soft pastels, pops of colour, graphic prints and textured materials.

"We used lightweight fabrics such as organza, cotton and jersey, which we offset with more structured materials such as jacquard, bonded cotton and duchess satin.

"Overall, it's light and fresh, with a youthful spirit," said Shaikha Haya.

The collection comprises a colour-drenched palette of pale aqua, electric blue, lipstick, and gold, against dreamlike pastels of lavender fondant and peach amber. Delicate multi-coloured florals scatter on a lavender tank while aqua and white droplets adorn a polo dress.

The letter 'N' emblazes a black and white varsity jacket paying tribute to youthfulness.

The designers chop and mix a tropical leaf and flock print adding graphic effect. An electric blue and lipstick leaf print also delivers a bold injection of colour, while copper foil splashes on sheer organza is overlaid with metallic sequins.

Standout pieces include a sheer gold stripe dress as well as a lavender bubble blossom cape and mini skirt in oversized, voluminous silhouettes.

The collection also houses dropped waist dresses and T-shirt jumpsuits, evoking a nonchalant appeal. The pinafore is updated in white leather as well as in black, with floral embellishments.

A dropped waist waffle mesh gown boasts intricate embellishments of metallic flowers, while strapless volume gowns in lavender bubble blossom and copper foil splash epitomise flirtatious femininity.
