New Year, new bash.

ORGANISERS of Edinburgh's world famous Hogmanay celebrations have vowed to press ahead with the event despite a major funding blow from the Scottish Executive.

The Executive blocked Edinburgh City Council's bid to spend pounds 400,000 on the bash ,which seemed to throw the future of the event into doubt.

But Council leader Donald Anderson said: "Edinburgh's Hogmanay will again offer a fantastic programme of events for residents and visitors in what is now its tenth year and everyone will have a great time."
