New Version of MetaInfo's DNS for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Released.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1996--

MetaInfo's DNS v. 2.1 brings full Internet connectivity to

the NT 4.0 platform

MetaInfo, international leaders in Internet messaging and directory service products for Windows NT, today announced the release of DNS v.2.1 -- a new version of their award-winning Domain Name Server software that is fully compatible with Windows NT 4.0.

It is available directly from MetaInfo, or though an international roster of resellers, and carries a suggested retail price of $400 US, or $95 US for registered users of DNS 1.x. Users of DNS v. 2.0 can get a free upgrade directly from http://www.metainfo.com.

"We are pleased to deliver this upgrade for our customers who have moved to NT 4.0," said Jared Vogt, MetaInfo's president and co-founder. "We've added new features and stronger support, which make the move to NT 4.0 domain system management simple and easy."

DNS 2.1 is a direct port of UNIX BIND 4.9.2, enabling use of existing UNIX-based configuration files and implementation of a mixed platform environment. Cross-platform DNS administration is possible through the browser-based Configuration Manager. Key features include: Windows NT 4.0 compatibility; a Setup Wizard that guides users through the initial setup of a DNS server; graphical Configuration Manager for improved speed of DNS administration; and compatibility with Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS).

New product support features in version 2.1 include built-in troubleshooting utilities for problem diagnosis, and Remote Support, which enables MetaInfo support staff to view and assist with the configuration of a customer's DNS server.
