New Version 4.5.2 Of Now Up-To-Date & Contact For Macintosh Supports Rendezvous.
COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2004
NUDC for Mac Users Can Now Setup Application, Transfer
Calendar/Contact Info Faster Than Ever; Xserve G5 Also Supported
Now Software, makers of the #1 best selling cross-platform calendar and contact manager Now Up-to-Date(R) & Contact(R) (NUDC), today introduced NUDC 4.5.2 for Macintosh, offering support for Rendezvous networking. Version 4.5.2 lets NUDC users take advantage of Apple's ultra-convenient Rendezvous technology to instantly connect and configure NUDC with network servers -- including Xserve G5 -- thereby synchronizing calendar and contact information easier than ever.
Rendezvous leverages industry standard protocols to automatically discover and connect devices over any IP network, including Ethernet and Apple's AirPort as well as other 802.11 wireless networks. With Rendezvous, connecting to any similarly-equipped computer, server, or peripheral -- printers, webcams, and storage devices, to name a few -- is as simple as plugging in. Rendezvous does the rest.
"NUDC for Macintosh users continue to be a bedrock of our business, and Version 4.5.2 is one more way we can support our large Mac community," said John Wallace, president of Now Software. "NUDC is all about power, convenience, and simplicity. Adding Rendezvous and Xserve G5 support is a natural progression for us and for our customers."
"Rendezvous is an open, standards-based technology that automatically connects electronic devices on a network, allowing them to interoperate seamlessly without any user configuration," said Ron Okamoto, Apples' vices president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Now Up-to-Date & Contact allows Mac users to instantly manage and organize their personal information by taking advantage of Apple's networking technology."
Commitment to Newest Platforms
Now Up-to-Date & Contact for Macintosh 4.5.2 demonstrates Now Software's commitment to supporting Apple's most customer-valued technologies. The application runs seamlessly on Mac OS X version 10.3 "Panther" and also supports iPod(TM) (OS X only), enabling easy synchronization of calendar/contact info for users on the go.
Xserve G5, introduced just weeks ago, is Apple's most sophisticated and powerful network server yet. Just 1U in height, Xserve G5 delivers as high as 30 gigaflops of processing power via its single or dual 64-bit 2.0Ghz G5 processors, along with 750GB of storage capacity. The Xserve received the highest marks from Infoworld magazine for all of 2003.
In addition to its Rendezvous and Xserve G5 support, Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.5.2 includes a number of stability enhancements to further improve user operation, including scroll wheel mouse support and enhanced calendar banner display.
Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.5.2 for Macintosh is currently shipping and is priced at $129.95 for the boxed version, or $119.95 for the online download version. Volume licensing is also available for education, business, organizational, and government customers.
