New Power: How Power Works in Our Hyperconnected World--and How to Make it Work For You

By Jeremy Heimans and Henry Timms

Is there another way that power can work that is different from the hierarchical way that power has worked for centuries? Under this system, power is held at the top of the pyramid, it is secret and the agenda is about holding onto that power. The instructions are sent down the hierarchy and there is little space for creativity anywhere but at the top of the hierarchy. The authors have revealed to us in their book that there is a new way and this way is already happening and having an impact on politics, business and life.

What is this New Power and what has made it possible?

It won't come as any surprise that what is new is the connectivity accessible through the internet to ordinary people, known as the crowd. Now ideas can spread like wildfire. Once the platform is set up, the agenda is known to the crowd and members of the crowd can participate with their own individual creativity to implement the agenda as well as influence the agenda. This unleashes the power of the crowd and says NO to old hierarchical power. The internet has flattened the old hierarchical structure and released the energy, passion and creativity of the crowd.

It is through New Power that activists can change the world. If you want to know how New Power is taking on the old power structures, this book is a must read.
