A new microfinance bank is to be launched in Nairobi.

A former Moi-era businessman, Jared Kangwana, has teamed up with local businesses to launch the new microfinance bank.

The new bank is to be called Maisha Microfinance Bank and its first branch is to be located in Nairobi's central business district. It will have six directors.

Maisha Bank has become the 13th micro lender licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
