New Microsoft extension shows Chrome tabs in Windows 10 Timeline.

India, Feb. 20 -- Highlights:

* Microsoft has launched a new extension for Google Chrome.

* The extension is called Web Activities.

* When set up, it lets users resume their Chrome browsing activities on Windows 10's Timeline.

In a move that makes the company appear more inclusive, Microsoft has launched an extension for Google Chrome that allows users to continue browsing on any of their Windows 10 devices. In other words, Chrome tabs and history across your Windows 10 devices can be seen in the Windows 10 Timeline, along with other apps and files you recently used. The new extension is called Web Activities and can currently be found on the Chrome Web Store

"With this extension, your browsing history will appear across all your devices in surfaces such as in Windows timeline and Microsoft Launcher for Android. Just sign in with your Microsoft account, select a site you've recently visited, and pick up where you left off," reads the extension overview on Chrome Web Store. Microsoft's new Web Activities weighs a meagre 34.46 kilobytes.

Microsoft introduced Timeline in Window 10 about a year ago along with the Windows 10 April 2018 Update . Activated by hitting Win + Tab keys together, the feature shows apps and files recently accessed in the form of a timeline. It even shows recent tabs opened on Microsoft Edge in the same way. But now, Microsoft is including tabs open even on Chrome in the same way. This must come as a relief for those who use the Timeline feature extensively but do not use Microsoft's Edge browser.

To use the new extension effectively, it must be set up on all active Windows 10 devices of the user. To set the extension up, the user must sign in with their Microsoft account credentials. By doing this, the user agrees to let Microsoft have access to the user's browsing history on Chrome, something many users may not want for reasons of privacy. Microsoft hasn't talked about making such an extension for Firefox as well. However, users seeking one may settle for unofficial extensions that do the same job.
