New Mexico.

New Mexico has implemented an innovative program for the noncompetitive, as well as the competitive, student. One day of the state conference is devoted to activities for students. Katie Maxwell of Aztec was the driving force behind this program. The main components of the day were student presentations, where students prepared an informative, original presentation about a composer or historical event and the music associated with it; an ensemble recital; a game room filled with many different activities for students and their siblings; and a banquet followed by a winner's recital.

We hope many of you will join us at our Division competitions to be held January 21-23, 2005, at the California State University, Long Beach, campus.
