New MONY Sign Brightens Broadway; New Brand Logo Calls Upon Images of Money.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1998--The MONY (pronounced "money") Building at 1740 Broadway at 55th Street in New York got a fresh look today. The company's new "MONY note" logo was unveiled for the first time.

The new logo, which will have a distinctive money color, now incorporates a simplified version of an image taken from actual U.S. currency. The logo will continue to highlight the word "MONY," which was first introduced in 1959. The building was made famous by the 1968 hit song "Mony Mony" by Tommy James and The Shondells, which is celebrating its 30-year anniversary of its release.

The introduction of the new logo signifies the entry of The MONY Group Inc. into a publicly owned business environment and a new company brand identity.

"Today marks the beginning of a new era for our company," said The MONY Group Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Michael I. Roth. "Our new name and brand identity signal our successful demutualization and transformation to a stock company."

For over four decades, MONY's landmark facade has been enlightening amateur weather prophets while helping millions of New Yorkers arrive to work on time. The recent face-lift did not displace the celebrated weather star and clock.
