New IA Gas Station Offers E85 for 85 Cents Per Gallon.

The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC) recently announced that the Farmers Cooperative Company will offer E85, a fuel blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent standard petroleum, for 85 cents a gallon today at the grand opening of its Cenex Ampride station in Hinton, IA.

NEVC is promoting the reduced-price scheme in an effort to spur ethanol use in the United States.

"With Iowa slated to be the number-one ethanol producer in the nation in 2005 and 82 percent of our ethanol currently being shipped out to the coasts, the time is right for Iowa to work on establishing new markets for ethanol here at home," said NEVC Iowa E85 coordinator Chris Vander Voort.
