Launched at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris was Elbit Systems' Tadiran THF 8000 HF radio that is available in manpack and vehicle-mounted configurations. The radio provides a data rate of up to 19,200 bps, allowing for video transfer via HF channels, a digital vocoder at 1200/2400 bps and advanced digital encryption with frequency hopping based on Stanag 4444. Automatic link establishment is through the updated 2G and 3G standards. The complete manpack radio solution incorporates 'advanced miniaturisation technologies' which result in its meagre 3.9-kg weight. The mobile platform incorporates a half-loop antenna, which eliminates the problematic 'skip zone' anomaly.
