New Economic Consulting Firm, AEG, Debuts In Lansing

LANSING, Mich., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Economist Patrick L. Anderson, a former budget officer for Gov. John M. Engler, today announced the formation of Anderson Economic Group (AEG), a research and consulting firm.

AEG will specialize in providing public policy research and strategic counseling for businesses and trade associations. AEG's first economic analysis is expected to be released soon by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Other clients include the City of Detroit, the Mackinac Center, Equivest Financial and BOF, Inc.

Anderson, who authored and campaigned successfully for Michigan's term limit amendment, said AEG will help meet the demand for solid public policy research created by Michigan's changing Legislature.

"The world has changed with term limits," Anderson said. "We will have a lot of new legislators who will need objective factual information on which to base their decisions. To achieve their goals, businesses and associations will need to supplement their normal government relations programs with more issue expertise."

Anderson said AEG offers expertise in tax, finance, Headlee Amendment issues, market analysis and management re-engineering. The firm's strength is analyzing the effect of policy changes on the Michigan economy. Anderson's experience includes serving as:

* an intelligence analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency,

* an economist for Manufacturers Bank,

* deputy director of the state Department of Management and Budget,

* chief of staff for Secretary of State Candice Miller, and
 * an investment officer for Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance Co.

During his tenure with Alexander Hamilton, company assets increased by $2 billion.

Working with AEG will be legal scholar George Leef; automotive business expert William Anderson; former Michigan Insurance Commissioner Dhiraj Shah; writer Dawn Newton; tax expert Bill Locricchio; and others.

"What makes AEG unique," Anderson said, "is that it involves people who have been successful both in business and the public sector, so we know both worlds."

Anderson's work has been published in the Wall Street Journal, Crain's Detroit Business, The Detroit News, and by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, the Economic Enterprise Foundation of Detroit, Taxpayers United for the Michigan Constitution, and the Heartland Institute.
