New DJ ready to share passion for punk.

A PASSION for punk rock has seen PR man Keith Newman accept a new 'spinning' challenge as a radio DJ in Northumberland.

Public relations consultant Keith is taking to the airwaves as a new wave and punk music presenter with community radio station Ultra this summer.

Keith, who runs his own business Highlights PR in Morpeth, will present a weekly show playing the best of bands such as The Stranglers, The Clash and The Damned.

New Wave with Newman will go out on Thursday evenings from 8pm to 10pm starting on June 9, two days after Ultra Radio officially takes to the airwaves on 87.7FM for a four-week trial period.

Keith said: "I've been a Ramones fan since the late 1970s and to actually get to meet Marky was a fantastic privilege. He was very professional and gave me advice on how to manage my radio show, as well as an insight into life as a Ramone."

Station director Simon Ferson said: "Keith is so enthusiastic about his genre of music and that passion will shine through to our local listeners on FM, and worldwide on the internet."
