New Bridge Unveiled in North Carolina.
The U.S. 17 highway bridge over the Neuse River in New Bern, N.C.,
was unveiled this November/ The project, which cost $120 million, is the
largest single contract of its type in the state DOT's history.
Contractors constructed a multilane fixed-span bridge, which is more
than 3048 meters long; a new tri-level interchange over an existing
interchange; and eight interchange bridges up to 1067 meters long.
The new bridge has a 81-meter main channel span, one of the largest
in North Carolina, as well as 65 feet of vertical navigation channel
