New Airbus order.

A MAJOR international airline signed a firm order with Airbus for 35 aircraft at the Berlin Air Show yesterday.

Bahrain national carrier Gulf Air is ordering 15 A320 single aisle aircraft and 20 A330-300s. The wings are made at Airbus's plant in Broughton, Flintshire.

But soaring fuel costs have prompted US carrier JetBlue Airways to announce plans to slow its fleet growth.

New York-based JetBlue said it will defer buying 21 new Airbus jetliners for four to five years. The A320 planes, originally scheduled for delivery from 2009 through to 2011, will now be delivered in 2014 and 2015.
