Integrated circuit manufacturer AMD (NYSE: AMD) has announced the immediate availability of its AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 processor.

The new offering can be used in a 32-bit or 64-bit environment and features built-in virus protection security technology when it is used in conjunction with the upcoming Windows Service Pack 2. AMD claims that the new processor is aimed primarily at gamers and PC enthusiasts as it is capable of delivering a cinematic computing experience, according to the company.

Pricing starts at USD733 for the processor in 1,000-unit quantities.
