New, Improved BUIC 1500 Check Scanner.

ANAHEIM, Cali--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 1998--Digital Check Corporation (DCC) today released and demonstrated the BUIC 1500, the latest version of the popular BUIC check and small document duplex scanner at the AIIM show in Anaheim, CA. (Booth 338). The BUIC 1500 provides up to 50% increase in scanning speed, increased grayscale support to 256 shades, and a larger output hopper. The new system is backward compatible with the previous versions and will be available with 16 and 32 bit API's.

"The new BUIC may look similar, but we continue to add important enhancements," commented John Gainer Executive Vice-President at DCC. "We've now installed over 700 BUIC units for applications such as branch capture, exception and return item processing, POD reject re-entry and wholesale lockbox processing in back-office applications. The 1500 keeps the same reliable transport and retains all the features such as duplex scanning, in-line MICR reading, autofeeder, and SCSI interface that its many users have relied upon, but has added these enhancements to further improve the back-office operation."

The increased speed will assist in making the BUIC scanner suitable for production applications while the larger hopper will help in allowing longer unattended batched scanning. The improved grayscale allows for better separation of payment information from background, as well as improved identification of overlapping endorsements. Availability is immediate, at a list price of $7,495, with volume discounts available to resellers. An optional two-line inkjet printer for check endorsements is also available.
