Netherlands to organise textile conference in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD -- The Ambassador of Netherlands Marcel de Vink Thursday disclosed that his embassy in collaboration with International Labour Organisation is hosting a Round Table Conference in Islamabad with stakeholders on "The Pakistani Textile Sector in the International Arena".

He discussed the details of the conference when he was called on the Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi here. During the meeting Netherlands envoy was also accompanied by Fransesco Davidio, Country Director of ILO (International Labour Organization) in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi told the visiting delegates that Pakistan is a valuable trade partner for Netherlands.

The Minister stated that the textile industry constitutes an important sector of economy of Pakistan.

He assured the ambassador that Netherlands is held in high esteem by the people of Pakistan.

"Every possible support will be extended to assure and strengthen trade ties between the two friendly countries," The Minister assured the visiting ambassador about his desire to further strengthen mutual cooperation.

During the sitting Fransesco Davidio, Country Director of ILO (International Labour Organization) in Pakistan apprised the minister that the ILO was keen to work in Pakistan for development and implementation of compliance standards.

The ambassador of Netherlands informed the Minister that the Netherlands Minister for Trade and Development would be visiting Pakistan, and on that occasion, the embassy and the ILO would be organizing a Round Table Conference in Islamabad with stakeholders on "The Pakistani Textile Sector in the International Arena".

He requested the Minister of Textile Industry to participate in the Conference as Chief Guest. The structure of the Conference was discussed in detail, and the Minister consented to attend the Conference as Chief Guest.
