Netflix Cancels 'Daredevil'.
After canceling "Marvel's Iron Fist" and "Marvel's Luke Cage" earlier this fall, Netflix has officially canceled "Marvel's Daredevil."
"Marvel's Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix," a statement said (via (https://deadline.com/2018/11/daredevil-canceled-netflix-3-seasons-1202511521/) Deadline ). "We are tremendously proud of the show's last and final season and although it's painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note."
In 2015, the show, which follows blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he becomes a vigilante superhero in Hell's Kitchen, launched the quartet of Marvel TV shows, which crossed over in 2017's "The Defenders." "(https://www.ibtimes.com/daredevil-star-vincent-donofrio-praises-karen-page-actress-deborah-ann-woll-2736956) Daredevil " was followed by "Marvel's Jessica Jones," which is now the only remaining show with a Defender, and then "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist."
Canceling three Marvel shows in two months doesn't bode well for the remaining superhero dramas on Netflix. However, fans can rest assured that "Jessica Jones" will return for Season 3 and "The Punisher" will come back for Season 2 next year.
The remaining Marvel series could bring back any of the characters whose shows have been canceled or even in other projects (like those on Disney+). Netflix hinted at as much in their statement. "While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel," the statement ended.
The third season of "Daredevil" was released Friday, Oct. 19. Netflix does not make ratings available for their TV shows, so it is impossible to know if viewers were tuning in. It was, however, the fourth season of a Marvel show released on Netflix this year. Each of the (https://www.ibtimes.com/iron-fist-star-finn-jones-wants-defenders-reunion-heroes-hire-spinoff-2716303) Defenders' individual shows delivered a new season in 2018.
The cancellation might not surprise fans. "Daredevil" viewers had been (https://www.renewdaredevil.com/) campaigning for weeks to get the series renewed for Season 4.
