Netegrity Demonstrates SiteMinder Scalability to 100 Million Users to Support Resurgence of Online Business Initiatives.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Enables Customers to Securely Manage Multi-Million User e-Business Initiatives

Netegrity, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETE), a leading provider of identity and access management solutions, today announced test results demonstrating linear scalability of Netegrity(R) SiteMinder(R) Web single sign-on technology in large e-business deployments having a user base of up to one hundred million users. Access management technology is a critical e-business infrastructure component for companies using the Web as the fundamental vehicle for delivery of product and service offerings created in pursuit of new revenue growth opportunities, lower transactional costs, increased customer satisfaction, and process efficiency gains.

Netegrity conducted the one hundred million user tests to provide large-scale infrastructure deployment and best practice guidance for its enterprise customer base planning to grow their existing multi-million on-line user populations into the tens of millions over the next several years. Companies in the financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy industries are extending their on-line service offerings to steadily growing user populations. As the number of users accessing on-line applications grows, the business and technical requirements for secure, reliable, and scalable identity and access management solutions capable of supporting and managing tens of millions of users becomes vital to e-business success.

"During the past several years, many Netegrity customers have grown their SiteMinder deployments to user communities exceeding one million identities and they are now looking to significantly grow these implementations to support aggressive on-line business goals," said Bill Bartow, vice president of engineering at Netegrity. "We have worked with many of our customers and systems integrators to design a test that reflects real world scenarios and as a result we have been able to produce conclusions and recommendations which they can leverage in their own environments."

Netegrity's one hundred million user project was conducted over a three month period at the independent National Software Testing Labs (NSTL). Tests were executed against a site infrastructure designed to represent a real-world financial services deployment using off the shelf hardware and software. The tests were designed to provide guidance to customers in developing an appropriate infrastructure, configuration, tuning, and architecture to best handle a large user population. Linear scalability of SiteMinder to support a one hundred million user population was achieved even with the use of advanced features including tracking of failed authentications, use of password policies, audit logging of last login time, and returned entitlements. Additionally, caching was turned off.

"The industry and customers need more testing of the type conducted on behalf of Netegrity. We were very pleased to work with Netegrity to provide guidance to customers in developing an appropriate infrastructure, configuration, tuning, and architecture to best handle a large user population," said Lloyd Holder, NSTL's CEO. "These tests clearly demonstrate that Netegrity SiteMinder can deliver the access control performance that large, demanding, mission-critical e-business Web sites require."
