NetManage Announces 32-Bit Software Development Tools For Corporate Intranet; Complete Toolkit Enables Rapid Development of Network Applications.
NEWT-SDK 5.0 includes standard SMTP mail, FTP and terminal emulation APIs, as well as new ATERM, WinCGI VBX, OLE Custom control (OCX) tools, and royalty-free DLLs (Dynamic Link Libraries), for developing advanced network applications.
By providing the industry's most complete set of software tools, NEWT SDK 5.0 enables software developers to use C, C++ or Visual Basic to rapidly develop 16-or 32-bit network applications for Windows without learning the underlying communication protocols.
In a related announcement, Microsoft announced today that it has signed a software licensing and joint development agreement with NetManage, Inc. The two companies will be working together on OLE controls supporting Internet protocols which will be released by Microsoft next year.
"Corporate developers need powerful tools for developing mission critical applications that increase productivity within their company," said Willie Tejada, vice president of product marketing at NetManage. "A complete set of integrated tools is absolutely necessary to accomplish this task. NEWT-SDK 5.0 provides developers with a robust set of DLLs, VBXs, and OCXs for designing business applications using TCP/IP and Internet technologies."
Develop Powerful Applications Using TCP/IP and Internet Technologies
NEWT-SDK 5.0 provides access to WinSock, WinISDN, WinCGI, WinSNMP, RPC, FTP, SMTP and MAPI APIs. NEWT-SDK 5.0 also offers C++ classes, on-line help, comprehensive documentation and sample applications to give developers everything they need to solve problems and develop software quickly.
The highlights of the new NEWT-SDK 5.0 include the WinCGI and ATERM APIs. NEWT-SDK 5.0 supports the WinCGI (Common Gateway Interface) through a Visual Basic control. This control allows for complex development of CGIs through an easy-to-use Visual Basic Interface. NEWT-SDK 5.0's ATERM API enables PC users to write applications to access UNIX-based data through a Telnet session. These custom applications access data on a UNIX host, and process the data locally on the PC.
The custom ATERM applications enable PC users to view information from the UNIX host as if it were a Windows-based application on their PC. This allows legacy UNIX applications to be easily integrated with Windows front-end applications -- providing a migration strategy for moving client/server applications to PCs.
Pricing and Availability
NEWT-SDK 5.0 will be available from NetManage immediately for US $500 per single copy.
