Net connection trouble reported by DDI Cellular Group firms.
Eight regional cellular phone service providers of DDI Corp. had Internet connection problems with their cell phones for about four hours early Thursday although the problems were largely fixed by around 9 a.m., the providers said.
The connection bug affected high-speed data transmission services using cell phones based on the so-called cdmaOne formula, the DDI Cellular Group companies said.
Some 56,000 people subscribe to the services.
Company officials said a malfunction in a network control system in Tama, Tokyo, is to blame and its specific cause is under investigation.
DDI is a long-distance carrier affiliated with Kyocera Corp.
