Ness is more in magical Scotland.

ONE of the world's greatest and most enduring mysteries is being celebrated this year as 2013 marks the 80th anniversary of the first sighting of the Loch Ness monster.

A phenomenon that continues to captivate the world began when Nessie was spotted in 1933 by Aldie Mackay, manageress of the Drumnadrochit Hotel, who spoke of seeing a "whalelike fish" in the loch.

During the Year of Natural Scotland, our Caledonian cousins have invited us to join them as they celebrate the country's outstanding natural beauty. And looking beyond the monstrous secrets of Loch Ness there is plenty to enjoy including RockNess music festival on the banks of the loch. This year's party from June 7 to 9 is headlined by Basement Jaxx, Plan B and Bombay Bicycle Club.

The music keeps playing at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, from August 2 to 3, celebrates its 10th anniversary with 90 local and international acts.
