Nepali community members mark Udhauli festivities.

Kirat Yakthumg Chumlung (KYC), Kirat Rai Yayokkha (KRY) and Sunuwar Service Society (SSS) recently organised an event to mark Udhauli festivities at Gulf Horizon Hotel. Udhauli is a festival of the Kirat communities of Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu and Yakkha of Nepal celebrated every year marking the migration phase towards the low-altitude regions when the winter season arrives. Some 200 community members attended the event in their traditional wardrobes. Pursatham Sunuwar, Acting President of Non-Resident Nepalese Indigenous Society, was the guest of honour. The event featured various dance and musical performances. Parbati Rai, Nepali folk singer, Babrim Sherma Limbu and Pooja Sunuwar also performed at the event. The performers from KYC welcomed the gathering with a dance performance. KYC artistes also performed Sakela, Chambung and Bijuwo dance by playing various ethnic musical instruments, including Dhol and Jhyamta. Jhakari dance by SSS performers was also part of the event. KRY artistes also performed Sakela dance at the event. Pooja Sunuwar performed three song related to the Kirat at the event.
