Nawaz Sharif blames Pakistan military for all ills in country.

Lahore, Dec. 21 ( ANI ): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has hit out at the military by blaming the current situation of the country on "the generals".

Sharif said that military dictators in Pakistan had overthrown prime ministers, hanged people and sent some on exile, and none of them cared about the alarming situation of the country's economy, reports The Express Tribune.

He added that it was "pathetic" that none of the generals have been held accountable. He also asked an 'absconding general'- in an apparent reference to former President Pervez Musharraf - whether he felt any shame.

He further said his party had "mended the relationship between Pakistan and India, and both nations were headed towards progress", but unfortunately 'a dictator' sabotaged that process and brought the country back to square one.

Sharif also pointed out that a civilian government is going to complete its five-year tenure without military intervention for the first time in Pakistan's history.

He said the days of taking 'extra-constitutional steps' are long gone, and that Pakistan will now support rule of law and democracy instead of any dictator.

"Each and every person living in Pakistan is bound to follow the constitution and no one is above the law. If someone thinks they are supreme to the law, they are living in a fool's paradise," he added. ( ANI )
