Nauru reiterates support to Morocco's autonomy initiative.
Rabat - Nauru's Foreign and Finance Minister, Kieren Keke, reiterated on Wednesday his country's support to Morocco's initiative to grant autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara. AaAa "We encourage an active and constructive participation of all parties" in order to find a solution to the Sahara issue "under the aegis of the UN", Keke told the press at the end of his visit to Morocco. AaAa He said the visit was an opportunity "to examine the means to boost bilateral cooperation, notably in the field of phosphate," adding that the talks with Moroccan officials also tackled regional and international issues such as climate change which he described as an "important issue for all small islands in the pacific." AaAa In this regard, KeKe voiced hope that the Copenhagen climate change summit will "come up with a strong commitment from all countries to effectively reduce gas emissions."
