A fuming man landed with a large pay-per-view porn bill has a bizarre explanation - claiming his dog ordered it when he got hold of the remote.

Thomas Barnes had hit out at a US satellite provider after receiving a demand for $70 for the x-rated films.

Indignant Mr Barnes, 58, told theNews Observerin North Carolina that the real culprit is naughty bichon frise Marino.

The errant pet is said to have jumped up on his owner's bed and accidentally ordered the Hustler channel.

Realising what happened horrified Mr Barnes said he contacted DirectTV "within minutes", pointing the finger of blame at Marino.

He was assured that the problem would be sorted, so he was dismayed when he continued to have access to porn.

When his bill came through, he subtracted the cost of Hustler and paid the rest - but as a result had his service cut off.

Disabled Mr Barnes, who relies on Social Security disability payments, said: "That 70 dollars, you're taking food out of my mouth.

"It's like you're stealing it. They refused to see how that was pertinent."

After filing a Federal Communications Commission complaint, he said, the provider agreed to credit his next bill.

But Mr Barnes said he is being made to pay for the mistake.

DirectTV is yet to comment about the incident.
