Natural trend shows a growing influence.
NEW YORK -- The growing popularity of natural products and homeopathy is leading more consumers to consider these products when they need a stomach remedy.
At the same time, the trend is giving retailers the opportunity to offer shoppers an alternative to the products that have come to dominate the category.
Hyland's Inc., for example, offers a variety of homeopathic formulas aimed at a number of different stomach conditions.
The company's Hyland's Gas (a plant-based formula) and Hyland's Upset Stomach (a charcoal-based formula) provide relief from gas and upset stomach, helping to ease the flatulence, belching and gas caused by improper digestion or gastric upset.
Hyland's Indigestion, meanwhile, is designed to provide relief of the symptoms of dyspepsia and upset stomach due to hyperacidity or improper diet, and the Hyland's Diarrex formula targets diarrhea sufferers.
For their part, the two products in W.F. Young Inc.'s CharcoCaps line use activated charcoal, which has been used for centuries as a natural internal detoxifier, to provide relief from a variety of stomach problems.
A spokesman notes that CharcoCaps dietary supplements are natural internal detoxifiers that are designed to cleanse the body of unwanted material and naturally absorb the toxins that cause gas and flatulence
"The activated charcoal in CharcoCaps dietary supplements helps reduce intestinal gas by attracting and condensing the gas molecules into the tiny pores that are created on the surface of the charcoal once it is activated," the spokesman explains.
