Nationalism based media can offset foreign media propaganda.

LAHORE, 12 April 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Nationalism based responsible media can offset the foreign media propaganda and well conceived conspiracies hatched against the largest and the only nuclear Muslim state of the world effectively. It was stated by Dean faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, Punjab University, Prof Dr.Mughees Uddin Sheikh in a panel interview conducted by the students of the Institute of Communication Studies here Sunday. He said in India, media people are only selected on the basis of nationalism and they are taught time and again to work for nation as we recently experienced in Mumbai attack. Nationalism is a strong tool for prosperity in every sphere of life. He said that Indian media in Mumbai attack launched well conceived propaganda against Pakistan by demonstrating nationalism and portrayed it to world media suiting to their country to achieve their motives. He said it is now dire need of the hour and high time that entire Pak media instead of patronizing yellow journalism must not only promote but practically demonstrate nationalism in future otherwise history will never forgive. He said it is unfortunate that one of the Indian newspapers published anti-Pakistan article same was carried by a Pakistani newspaper without going through its contents. Dr.Mughees said that nationalism is imperative for the prosperity of the nations and gives an individual an identity and dignity. He said countries progressing rapidly have realised the vital importance of nationalism and proud of their language over English. About his teaching experience in Oslo University, he said that in all foreign universities, teachers only teach the students with full devotion and dedication while in Pakistan teachers who also hold the office of head of the department in addition to teaching also do clerical jobs which also affects the teaching. He said all foreign universities are absolutely free of any sort of external, internal or local politics and students only concentrate on pursuit of studies and research. He said that in foreign universities, the culture of better understanding between teachers and students is promoted. Prof Dr.Mughees advised the students to work hard, conduct extra study, read analysis in newspapers and always promote nationalism at all costs in the larger national interest.
