National organiser helps out.

ORGANISERS of this year's Urdd Eisteddfod had to call on the professional help of the National Eisteddfod's northern organiser to timetable the entire stage and preliminary events after it discovered that it had paid off too many of its festival staff.

Hywel Wyn Edwards spent a considerable time preparing the timetable to ensure that stage events went on without a gap or hitch throughout the week.

Chief executive Jim O'Rourke said, ``He has been of enormous help to us.''

The northern organiser of the youth movement's festival, Eirian Dulyn Owen, had been forced into early retirement and the southern organiser, Helen Daniels, had then left her position.

Festival board chairman Eurig Davies said that three quarters of the Urdd Eisteddfod staff were new and he praised them for their efforts.
