National judo championship from April 30.

LAHORE -- Country's top notch martial art experts will be seen in action during the national men and women judo championships being held from April 30 at Islamabad's Pakistan Sports Complex.

Pakistan Judo Federation, in collaboration with Islamabad Judo Association and Army Sports Directorate, is organising the week-long premier judo which is a step forward for the further popularization of the game in the country, said a spokesman for PJF here on Monday.

"Team events for men and women have also been included for the first time as per a decision of the PJF and the marks of each event will be accumulated towards winner trophy of respective event ',he said.

The team event will be held as per the rules of International Judo Federation and Judo Union of Asia.

"Top 15 teams including KP, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit Baltistan, AJK, Pak Army, WAPDA, Railway, Police, Navy and HEC will participate in both the competitions," he added.

He said in order to promote the game and to encourage departments and organizations to take up judo as a sports token participation has been given to DHA.

The championship of men will be held in 10 weights while the championship of women will be held in 8 different weight categories as per the details given below:

Men: -50, -55, -60, -66, -73, -81, -90, -100, +100kg and Open weight.

Women: -40, -44, -48, -52, -57, -63, -70kg and Open weight.

Weight categories of the Team Event

Men (5) -66 kg,-73 kg,-81kg,-90kg, +90kg

Women (5) -52 kg, -57kg,-63kg,-70kg,+70kg.
