National Science Foundation.

The National Science Foundation and the Edison Polymer Innovation Corp. has established a consortium to focus on the chemistry, molecular design and microstructure of polymer composites. The NSF Center for Molecular and Microstructure of Composites will utilize the expertise of researchers from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and the University of Akron. Major goals of the research program are to develop composites which achieve use temperture above 35[degrees]C, tensile modulus above 150 GPa, composite tensile strength above 1.5 GPa and a resin char yield in excess of 65%.
