National Instruments launches GPIB products.
National Instruments has introduced two new GPIB products - the GPIB-ENET/100 Ethernet-to-GPIB controller and the PCI-8212 combination GPIB and Ethernet interface for PCI - for engineers and scientists who want to use GPIB and Ethernet in the same test and measurement system.
Both products are HS488-compliant and offer high-speed interfaces for connecting, sharing or controlling GPIB instruments on Ethernet networks. In addition both ship with NI-488.2 and NI-VISA application program interface software for Windows 2000/NT/9x.
The GPIB-ENET/100 controller enables users to access remote test equipment from anywhere via TCP/IP protocols on 10BaseT and 100BaseT networks while the PCI-8212 interface product offers a single PCI board combining National's own GPIB controller chip and an Ethernet controller chip developed by Intel. The products will be available in 3Q'2000 and 2Q'2000 respectively. Pricing was not revealed.
