Narberth tops friendly town survey.

PEMBROKESHIRE town Narbeth is the friendliest in Wales and the sixth friendliest in the UK, according to a new survey.

The report by comparethemarket.com found that three quarters of us would not think about making an effort to get to know our neighbours if we moved to a new area.

But towns in top 20 have been highlighted for their friendly, community attitude.

One story highlighted from the West Wales town was when a family whose son had been badly wounded in Afghanistan moved there recently, the community held a Help for Heroes cake sale, raising PS6,500 for the charity.

"Everyone has a cheery word for anybody. The thought of the elderly being lonely or friendless is unthinkable," said Carol Peett of The County Homesearch Company.

Keswick, in Cumbria, topped the UK list, with Harrogate and Taunton following in second and third.
