Nantwich Cheese show chooses The Cheese Company.

The Cheese Company, the UK's second largest cheese producer, has reinforced its position as one of the nation's leading producers of high quality cheeses by scooping no less than 31 awards at the flagship Nantwich International Cheese Show 2005, including the Natwest Cup Supreme Champion award. Its success comes just over a year after it became part of the Milk Link Group--one of the UK's leading farmer owned integrated dairy businesses.

The Cheese Company's impressive list of wins included: Tuxford and Tebbutt Creamery in Melton Mowbray scooped a superb six awards, including the coveted Natwest Cup Supreme Champion for its Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Stilton. Gold was awarded also for its Two Halves Standard Blue Stilton and Mature Blue Stilton. In addition, the Mature Blue Stilton collected Silver and the Whole Blue Stilton and Halves of Standard Blue Stilton won Bronze.

Taw Valley Creamery in North Tawton, near Okehampton, Devon collected a massive 12 awards, including three Gold for its Single Double Gloucester, Single Red Leicester, and Single Vegetarian Cheddar Cheese. In addition, the Creamery won Silver for its Single Double Gloucester, Single Vegetarian Cheese and its Red Leicester recipes. Bronze was awarded for its Single Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese, Single Double Gloucester Block and Single Red Leicester Block. The Creamery was also commended for its Single Mature Cheddar and Very Highly Commended and won Bronze in the Past Master Class, a category entered by those creameries which are limner Supreme Champion winners.

Reece's Creamery in Malpas, Cheshire. re-confirmed its position at the forefront of crumbly regional cheeses, winning 10 awards. Its Single Crumbly Lancashire and Single Wensleydale both picked up Gold, while its Single Cheshire Cheese, Single Crumbly Lancashire, Single Caerphilly and Single Wensleydale were all awarded Silver. The Creamery collected Bronze for its Single Cheshire Cheese (Coloured and Coloured/White), Single Crumbly Lancashire Block and Single Caerphilly Block. In addition, its Single Caerphilly Block was Very Highly Commended.

Lockerbie Creamery in Scotland was awarded Silver for its Single Half Fat Cheese and Bronze for its reduced fat cheese recipe for Marks and Spencer.
