Nancy Appling, MSN, RN, CNOR, CRNFA, CAN.

Nancy Appling, MSN, RN, CNOR, CRNFA, CAN, received a 2008 Outstanding Graduate Clinical Preceptor award from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Nursing. Appling, an acute care nurse practitioner, is a first assist in surgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Memphis. Appling is considered a role model for students regarding communicating effectively with patients and families, as well as collaborating with the multi-professional health care team. Appling is a significant contributor to designing tomorrow's best practices, which is a major initiative within her own institution, as well as a national health care effort.
