Naked prisoner remanded.

A NAKED prisoner who refused to appear in court has been remanded in custody for a week.

Prosecuting solicitor Karen Mullin told Prestatyn magistrates the man was originally arrested by police on Aug 21 under the Mental Health Act.

He was taken to the Ablett Unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, where he allegedly assaulted a staff nurse.

The man first gave his name as Gary Barlow but then said he was Owen Robert John Jones, 32, of no fixed address.

"There is still a question over his identity," she said.

Duty solicitor David Jones said the man had refused to speak to him in the cells, where he was naked, and would not enter court.
