New York City-based enterprise-oriented social start-up Superpowered announced today the launch of a new brand identity--Alchemy. The new brand embodies Alchemy's mission to activate the hidden capacity of the people in an organization and deliver surprising breakthroughs from unexpected sources. Before Alchemy, those same breakthroughs were all left up to chance and now the company has created products to engineer the serendipity of meaningful professional connections.
Founded in March of 2010, Alchemy is an email-based tool that extends the capacity of an organization. Through hacking the mechanics of human behavior, Alchemy has reverse-engineered the timeless process of people asking each other for help solving challenging problems and sharing knowledge. In fact, Cisco attributes $700M/year of corporate savings alone to collaboration efforts across the company.
Here's how Alchemy works. On Monday, an email arrives asking: “What do you need this week?” inviting community members to share personal solutions that can't be found anywhere else. On Tuesday, a single email arrives with all of the member submissions, plus descriptive photos & bios. Community members reply directly in-line and are privately connected to those people they can help. No reply-all, and all of those interactions are measured.
