NWP ANNOUNCES OPEN SEASON FOR SECOND PHASE OF SYSTEM EXPANSION
NWP ANNOUNCES OPEN SEASON FOR SECOND PHASE OF SYSTEM EXPANSION SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwest Pipeline Corp.
(NWP) today announced that the company is conducting a 60-day open season to determine the level of interest in a further expansion of its natural gas transmission system. In the event that customers demonstrate interest in a second phase expansion, NWP will go forward with plans to have the new facilities in service by the fourth quarter of 1995.
"Even though we are currently under construction on a $373 million, 433 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) expansion of NWP's mainline, our customers have expressed an interest in a further expansion of our system," said Matt Gillis, manager, marketing, business development and transportation services. "The demand for natural gas in the Pacific Northwest continues to increase, and we are pleased to respond to the market and offer this open season." NWP believes that the open season will result in the further expansion of its facilities by as much as 600 MMcf/d, which would increase overall system capacity to nearly 3 billion cubic feet per day. NWP has completed a preliminary expansion design based on 600 MMcf/d. Final design and cost estimates will be completed after customers have expressed their interests. Questions regarding the open season can be directed to Joe Fields, Project Manager, 801-584-6130. Northwest Pipeline is one of The Williams Cos. Inc. (NYSE: WMB).
