NVIDIA Elected to OpenGL Architecture Review Board; 3D Processor Company Dedicated to the Growth and Innovation of OpenGL Standards.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1998--Continuing its leadership support of industry standards, NVIDIA(tm) Corporation announced today that it has been elected to the OpenGL(tm) Architecture Review Board (ARB).

Following a vote by Silicon Graphics, Inc. and other members of the organization including, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Evans and Sutherland, IBM, Intel, Intergraph and Microsoft, NVIDIA was voted to help play a part in the ongoing definition of OpenGL.

"In order to enable a stunning visual experience on the PC, NVIDIA is deeply committed to driving industry standards to include key 3D features, such as multitexturing with OpenGL 1.2.1."

For over a year, NVIDIA has been an active participant in the effort to define and enhance OpenGL standards. In addition, NVIDIA announced a custom OpenGL Installable Client Driver (ICD) for Windows 95 and Windows NT to complement its RIVA family of 3D processors.

OpenGL has always been the professional graphics standard for Unix and NT platforms, enabling high performance visualization in the entertainment, manufacturing, energy and medical markets. The proliferation of OpenGL into the PC space provides a new level of graphics capabilities to a broad market of 3D users.
