NUVEEN GEORGIA PREMIUM INCOME MUNICIPAL FUND AND NUVEEN MISSOURI PREMIUM INCOME MUNICIPAL FUND LIST ON THE AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE

NEW YORK, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today announced that it has commenced trading the common shares of Nuveen Georgia Premium Income Municipal Fund and Nuveen Missouri Premium Income Municipal Fund. Trading under the ticker symbols "NPG" and "NOM" respectively, the stocks opened at 15. Chicago, Illinois-based Nuveen Advisory Corp., manager of these funds, has selected Cranmer and Cranmer, Inc./Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan, Inc. as specialist firm for both funds.
Nuveen Georgia Premium Income Municipal Fund and Nuveen Missouri Premium Income Municipal Fund are newly organized, closed-end, diversified management investment companies registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The primary investment objective of both funds is to provide current income exempt from both regular Federal income taxes and either Georgia or Missouri personal income taxes. The secondary investment objective is the enhancement of portfolio value relative to either the Georgia or Missouri municipal bond market through investments in tax exempt either Georgia or Missouri Municipal Obligations that, in the opinion of the Funds' investment adviser, are underrated or undervalued or that represent municipal market sectors that are undervalued. The Funds will invest substantially all of assets in a diversified portfolio of either Georgia or Missouri tax exempt securities rated within the four highest grades, and up to 20% of the Funds' assets may be invested in unrated Georgia or Missouri Municipal Obligations.
NPG's initial public offering consists of 3,350,000 million shares of common stock with an overallotment option of 335,000 shares. Merrill Lynch & Co. is the lead underwriter of this offering.
NOM's initial public offering consists of 2 million shares of common stock with an overallotment option of 200,000 shares. Merrill Lynch & Co. is the lead underwriter of this offering.
The American Stock Exchange occupies a unique niche among U.S. financial markets. It is the only exchange to successfully provide both a primary equities market for growth companies, as well as a principal market to trade derivatives. No other exchange has balanced traditional and cutting edge trading products. And because of the efficiencies associated with the AMEX auction marketplace, investors of all sizes achieve the greatest value and protection.
