 NUEVO ENERGY TESTS THE SIXTH WELL AT NORTH FRISCO CITY FIELD
 HOUSTON, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nuevo Energy Company (NYSE: NEV) announced today that the Paramount-Sigler 25-11 well in the North Frisco City Field, Monroe County, Ala., tested at a maximum rate of 3,007 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 3.3 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) from the Haynesville sand.
 It is the fourth consecutive well in the field to test at over 3,000 BOPD. At the time of the test, the well was producing with a flowing tubing pressure of 1,740 psi on a 26/64-inch choke. The Sigler 25-11 contains 117 feet of net pay, the second thickest pay section in the field behind the McCall 25-7 with 150 feet of net pay. The well was perforated from 12,114 to 12,154 feet and has excellent reservoir characteristics.
 The Paramount-Sigler 25-11 is the sixth well in the North Frisco City Field, and is an offset to the Paramount-McCall 25-9 well. The other five wells in the field are currently each producing at approximately 1,000 barrels of oil per day and 850,000 cubic feet of gas per day.
 The North Frisco City prospect was generated by Paramount Petroleum Co. Inc., which became a subsidiary of Nuevo in February of 1992. In addition to Nuevo's 30 percent working interest, other interest owners include Howell Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: HWL) with 30 percent, RIMCO with 20 percent and GEDD, Inc. with 7.8 percent. The field is operated by Torch Operating Company.
