NUEVO ENERGY TESTS 3,559 BOPD & 3.4 MMCFD RATE
FROM FOURTH WELL AT NORTH FRISCO CITY FIELD
HOUSTON, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Nuevo Energy Company (NYSE: NEV) announced today that the Paramount-McCall 25-9 No. 1 well in the North Frisco City Field, Monroe County, Ala., tested at a maximum rate of 3,559 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 3.4 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) from the Haynesville sand.
At the time of the test, the well was producing with a flowing tubing pressure of 1,695 psi on a 32/64-inch choke. The well was perforated from 12,008 to 12,069 feet and contains 77 feet of net pay. Conventional cores taken in the well indicated excellent reservoir characteristics, with 27 percent maximum porosity and 2,000 millidarcies maximum permeability.
The Paramount-McCall 25-9 No. 1 is the fourth well in the North Frisco City Field, and is an offset to Nuevo's Paramount-Lancaster 30-5 No. 1 well which was tested last month at a maximum rate of 3,101 barrels of oil per day and 3.4 million cubic feet of gas per day. The first two wells in the field are currently each producing at approximately 1,000 barrels of oil per day and 850,000 cubic feet of gas per day. Upon completion of the processing facilities Nuevo estimates it will produce the Lancaster 30-5 No. 1 and the McCall 25-9 No. 1 at similar rates.
Nuevo's President Robert L. Gerry stated "the test rate of our latest well is one of the highest recorded in recent years in Alabama. We are excited by the positive development of the field and plan to drill up to three more wells in 1992."
The North Frisco City prospect was generated by Paramount Petroleum Co., Inc. which became a subsidiary of Nuevo in February 1992. Nuevo and its partners currently hold 2,116 net acres in the North Frisco City Field. In addition to Nuevo's 30 percent working interest, the other interest owners are Howell Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: HWL), RIMCO, and GEDD, Inc. The well is operated by Torch Operating Company.
