 NUEVO ENERGY COMPANY TESTS 3,101 BOPD FROM THIRD WELL
 AT NORTH FRISCO CITY FIELD
 HOUSTON, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Nuevo Energy Company (NYSE: NEV) announced today that the Paramount-Lancaster 30-5 No. 1 well in the North Frisco City Field, Monroe County, Ala., tested at a maximum rate of 3,101 barrels of oil per day and 3.4 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Haynesville sand.
 At the time of the test, the well was producing with a flowing tubing pressure of 1,855 psi on a 24/64-inch choke. The well was perforated from 11,988 to 12,038 feet.
 The Paramount-Lancaster is the third well in the North Frisco City Field, and is an offset to the east of Nuevo's Paramount-McCall 25-6 No. 1 well. The Paramount-McCall well was completed in March 1992 with a maximum test rate of 2,064 barrels of oil per day and 2.6 million cubic feet of gas per day, with a flowing tubing pressure of 2,087 psi on a 24/64-inch choke, from 12,110 to 12,130 feet. The Paramount-McCall and the discovery well, the Paramount-Sigler 25-6 No. 1, are currently producing at a combined rate of 2,009 barrels of oil per day and 1.8 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Haynesville sand.
 The North Frisco City and North Rome discoveries were previously made by Paramount Petroleum Co., Inc. A subsidiary of Nuevo, also known as Paramount Petroleum Co., Inc., owns a 30 percent working interest in these properties. Nuevo and its partners intend to drill three to four more wells in the North Frisco City Field this year. In addition to Nuevo's 30 percent working interest, the other interest owners are Howell Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: HWL), RIMCO, GEDD, Inc., and Shore Oil Company. The well is operated by Torch Operating Company.
