NTT DoCoMo's i-mode to be offered in Russia: reports.

MOSCOW, Dec. 16 Kyodo

Russia's top mobile carrier Mobile TeleSystems OJSC has teamed up with NTT DoCoMo Inc. to offer the top Japanese mobile phone operator's i-mode Internet-capable mobile phone services in the country, news reports said Thursday.

MTS, which commands a 35 percent share of the Russian mobile phone market, and NTT DoCoMo will sign an agreement on their tie-up in Moscow on Friday, the reports said.

Russia's mobile phone market is expected to expand at a high clip in the years ahead, with total subscriptions likely to exceed 70 million handsets by the end of this year.

NTT DoCoMo's i-mode services have been made available in such countries outside Japan as France, Italy and Spain through tie-ups with local mobile carriers.
