NSSF Program Emphasizes Safety.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is partnering with the Amateur Trapshooting Association to develop the first-of-its-kind scholastic shooting program to provide junior high and high school shooters a framework in which to develop their shooting skills.

"Young people who learn shooting skills in Scouts, 4-H, FFA, and other youth programs are often 'short-stopped' with no clear avenue to follow to progress in the sport," says Doug Painter, NSSF executive director.

The Scholastic Shooting Program will emphasize safe firearm handling and shooting skills and will provide start-up equipment, coaching, and a competitive structure at the local, state, and national level.
