NSSF Board Creates New Government Relations Division.

In one the most significant program expansions in its 38-year history, the National shooting Sports Foundation's (NSSF) Board of Governors has created a government relations division that will represent the firearm and ammunition industry's interests in the hails of Congress. NSSF will be the leading representative of the industry for legislative affairs as a result of its recent unification with the American Shooting Sports Council

At a July meeting, the board approved a budget to hire experienced Washington lobbyists, a government relations director, public affairs specialist and administrative assistant; and establish offices. The new division's efforts will he advised and coordinated by several committees that will communicate with the nation's mayors and governors, as well as with Congress.

A committee was also formed to communicate industry's legislative positions to the National Rifle Association. To make lobbying one of NSSF's approved functions, changes in its bylaws have been made. Bob Delfay, NSSF's president and CEO, said: "We plan the most I aggressive and successful lobbying effort our industry has ever seen."
