NOXSO BEGINS COMMERCIAL MARKETING OF ITS ACID RAIN ABATEMENT TECHNOLOGY

BETHEL PARK, Penn., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- NOXSO Corporation (NASDAQ: NOXO) said it launched commercial marketing of its acid rain abatement technology for coal-fired facilities operated by public and private utilities and industrial concerns.
The company said a typical system will sell for roughly $124 million for each 500 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity and each sale will provide recurring annual revenue to NOXSO for the consumable material used to absorb the SO2, and NOx, the principal causes of acid rain.
The commercial launch follows successful operation on an 18-month long, 5 MW installation at Ohio Edison's Toronto (Ohio) generating station during which the NOXSO Process removed 94 percent of acid rain pollutants from coal-fired flue gas, exceeding the requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act.
Rita E. Bolli, a nineteen year veteran of the electric power industry and most recently with Ohio Edison, will lead the marketing team, which will initially concentrate on coal-burning utilities and industries for both retrofit installations and new plant construction. She will work with John C. Kelly, formerly with General Electric and Halliburton/NUS Corporation, who has more than eighteen years of experience related to product development and equipment sales to electric utilities.
Ms. Bolli, an acknowledged expert in environmental compliance and clean cola technologies, holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Westminster College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Kelly earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Notre Dame and his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
At its annual meeting last week, NOXSO President Dr. L.G. Neal said the company has reached a major milestone with completion of its final pilot study, which met or exceeded all expectations during 65,000 hours of operation. "We are now prepared to offer our proven, superior process to the commercial sector. The appointment of NOXSO's marketing team is the start of a major sales and marketing program to bring our flue gas clean-up technology to the worldwide emissions control market."
NOXSO's sole business is the development and licensing of its advanced emission control process which removes up to 99 percent of SO2 and 95 percent of NOx from coal-fired flue gas. The NOXSO Process is a dry, regenerable system that is far more effective than conventional flue gas treatments, yet economically competitive. The process produces no wastes. It uses minimal space and is suitable for both new installations and retrofits.
