NOVACORP INTERNATIONAL CONSULTING INC. ANNOUNCES MALAYSIAN SUBSIDIARY
SIGNS AGREEMENT TO FORM TECHNICAL SERVICES COMPANY
CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Novacorp International Consulting Inc. (NYSE: NVA, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary: NVA) announced today that its Malaysian subsidiary signed an agreement to form a technical services company in Malaysia with the national oil company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas). The new company to be called OGP Technical Services Sdn. Bhd., will provide project management and engineering services to the Malaysian oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. Future plans will incorporate exporting these services outside Malaysia.
Novacorp has been active in Malaysia since 1982. Initially the company provided project management, engineering and inspection assistance for Phase I of the multibillion-dollar Peninsular Gas Utilization Program (PGUP) which delivers gas to peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. Novacorp subsequently provided project management consulting to Petronas for Phase II of PGUP, and is currently involved in facilities operations and the building of two compressor stations to expand the initial system.
OGP will supply its services to Phase III of the pipeline system of PGUP as well as providing consulting assistance on the building of the fourth gas processing facility located at Kerteh. OGP is expected to employ 200 people by year end, and will make extensive use of other Malaysian consulting companies to work in partnership with Canadian technical experts. There are currently 55 Canadian Novacorp employees working on these activities in Malaysia.
